Awards
CIPL Awards 2024
During ICL2024 Poznań, the Comité International Permanent des Linguistes, CIPL, will
present three awards
- The Suwilai Premsrirat Award for excellent
research in the
field of language endangerment.
A jury, consisting of David Bradley (CIPL president), Aimée Lahaussois (convener of the ICL2024 section on language documentation), Felix Ameka (em. CIPL professor at Leiden University) and Kirk Person (SIL consultant, Mahidol University/Suan Sunandha University, Bangkok) will award a prize of $ 1.000,-- for the best research into the field of endangered languages since the previous ICL in Cape Town.
This award is named after the late prof. Suwilai Premsirat, winner of the ICL 2008 Award in Seoul.
- The Ferenc Kiefer Award for the best early career
presentation
at ICL2024.
A jury, chaired by em. prof. Piet van Sterkenburg, honorary secretary-general of CIPL, will award three prices:
- A first price of € 500,--
- A second price of € 250,--
- A third price: a title to be chosen from the Brill catalogue up to a maximum of euro 150.
This award is named after the late prof. Ferenc Kiefer, former president of CIPL.
- The Stephen Wurm Award for the best poster at
ICL2024.
A jury, chaired by prof. Olga Spevak, chair of the ICL review committee, will award three prices:
- A first price of € 250,--
- A second price: a title to be chosen from the John Benjamins catalogue up to a maximum of € 125,--
- A third price: a certificate
This award is named after the late prof. Stephen Wurm, former president of CIPL.
The prizes will be awarded during a special meeting.
